Sample Profiles
Practitioner profiles are edited from the transcripts of narrative interviews. They focus on practice stories of people’s work and experiences in specific projects, and often include accounts of their life stories as well. For details about how we conduct narrative interviews, transcribe and edit them into profiles, and use them in our teaching and research, click here. With respect to our work of creating and using profiles, we want to acknowledge John Forester as our most important mentor. We encourage everyone who wants to learn more about how to create and work with practitioner profiles to read his latest book, Dealing with Differences.
Here are two sample profiles from our work:
- To read a practitioner profile of David Pelletier, a faculty member from Cornell University who tells a detailed story about his work and experience in a specific community-university engagement initiative, click here.
- To read a practitioner profile of John Gerber, a faculty member from UMass-Amherst who provides a brief account of his life story as well as a detailed practice story, click here.
In addition to these individual profiles, we have two collections of practitioner profiles available for download.
- We Grow People is a collection of profiles of educators who work for Cornell University Cooperative Extension in New York City. To read and download these profiles, click here.
- Catalyzing Change is a collection of profiles of educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension associations in Greene, Tompkins, and Erie counties in New York State. To read and download this collection, click here.
